This exhibition is a survey of artists who engage social issues in their art and who were previously exhibited at Provisions Library. Between September, 2001 and 2006 Provisions has presented more than 25 exhibitions focusing on creative social change, from which we have selected key artworks, books and related materials for BIG PICTURE.

The exhibition was on view at the Nathan Cummings Foundation in New York City from February-May, 2006.

Provisions' approach to global social change focuses on the arts and creative social action as a powerful common territory for exploring human aspirations and social values that can transform war into peace, inequity into equity, and environmental devastation into sustainability. BIG PICTURE offers glimpses of the future and of paths that lead us to it.

This website is a wiki. While you cannot change basic content about the exhibition, you may make additions wherever you see an [edit] link at the top of the page. We are looking for your suggestions and comments about artists, books, writers, organizations, social movements, etc. A discussion page accompanies each page, for general comments.
